In literature, authors sometimes write about people who try to overcome tough times, people who are brave. Farah has moved to the U.S, and has been facing many difficulties as a result her move. She is very different from the other kids. In the story, One green apple, the protagonist Farah, is brave. She shows this in the beginning, after she moved to the U.S, in the middle, when she makes a friend, and in the end, when she decides to join in with making the apple cider.

In the beginning of the story, Farah has just moved to the U.S. from a different country. She shows bravery because after moving, the other children don’t really give Farah warm welcomes, maybe because she is different. The author quotes “ I have not seen anyone else wearing a dupatta, although all the women in my home country do.” This proves that Farah is different because it shows how she dresses differently, which …show more content…

When at the field trip, the students are requested to help make apple cider at an apple orchard. Nobody really bothers or cares about Farah, and she is all alone. When the process of making the apple cider actually starts, she is still left alone. Instead of hanging back, she decides to help. She steps toward the group, and space is made for her. “ I take a step towards them” the author quotes. This shows bravery because instead of hanging back and remaining alone, she decided to try to help. She doesn’t know anyone in the class, or the entire school, and so she is very lonely, besides Anna. She does not act shy at all, like other people would. This is also an act of bravery because Farah has not received the warmest welcomes from the other students, but it didn’t hurt her in the beginning, or now at the end. She really wanted to help the other students make the cider, and so she tried, and they made her room. This would have never happened if farah hadn’t taken a
