It was a late and rainy October night. Three kids at the age of 10 wanted to go on a journey to Ash Forest. They told their parents that they were having a sleepover that night. They left after the parents were asleep at 12:00am. When they arrived at Ash Forest, a loud whistling sound with strong wind came from the trees.
The central idea of Richard Preston’s The Hot Zone is that the outbreaks of many deadly hot agents are due to the oversight of humans. Preston conveys his message through detailed descriptions of simple mistakes that characters make. One instance of human oversight that he wrote about was the usage of dirty needles in the hospitals of Sudan, leading to a massive outbreak of Ebola Sudan. The virus “hit the hospital like a bomb” and “transformed the hospital at Maridi into a morgue” all because “the medical staff had been giving patients injections with dirty needles” (74).
“ Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” - Ricky Martin. There is one thing that these three characters or people from short stories or real life have in common, they are all considered heros.
“It was trying to see through a blanket”“Connell 2”. This reference was suppose to be used in order to tell the reader the thickness of the water in the river that Rainsford fell into off the boat. Personally, it was hard to make this connection, since I have never swam in a thick body of water. Water tends to be thinner than most substance and seeing through a blanket, that's almost impossible. Blankets are made of thick material that is closely put together or of the same piece of material.

Sparrows big as eagles! I turned around to look at this fellow and he had this light coming out of him. I had to cover up my eyes to keep from being blinded. He shining like new money…looked over and seen my daddy standing there. He was the same…
There are many hidden messages Zora Neale Hurston’s short story, “Sweat.” Delia, the main character, is mistreated by her husband, Sykes. He abuses her and cheats on her; meanwhile she is working many hours doing hard labor to pay for the house. It becomes very clear that one theme of the story is about abusive marriages. Often, the meaning of some events are overlooked, but play a crucial meaning to the story.

Benjamin Franklin once said, “Beauty, like supreme dominion, is but supported by opinion.” Franklin wrote this in the 1741 edition of the Poor Richards Almanac and was trying to say that beauty is something that each individual interprets in their own way. For me to see something as being beautiful, it has to make me want to capture it in some form. Photography is my most chosen form of capturing something because my mind will one day forget it. I find that most of the picture that I take are of nature.
Deer Hunting As my Dad and I pulled in the driveway around 11am, my Uncle Jack was about to go out hunting in the stand that everyone has been getting deer in. I couldn’t pass that up as he asked, “Would you like to go out with me?” I wasn’t sure I wanted to go out since I already went out this morning and stayed up late last night. Before I knew it, my Dad was getting my gun ready and loaded.
The deafening roar from the crowd filled my ears, as it had done so many times before. I reached down, picked up my ear pieces lying across my shoulders, and placed one in each ear. As the stagehand passed me the mic, my pulse quickened. Standing on the platform beneath the stage, waiting for it to rise, my shoulders tightened. Fourteen years, performing on stages around the world hadn't banished my pre-show jitters.
Spring Break Stalkers “Omg! You guys this is going to be the best trip ever!” I said excitedly. In a matter of hours we would be on an airplane heading for Panama! This would be our best Spring Break yet…

Summers have an air of relaxation to them for most people, but for me I can barely find a moment's rest. Because I work in the hospitality industry, summer is the busiest time of the year. My apartment is a 3 minute walk from the beach and yet I only rarely get to enjoy it. Although there are days, there are precious days, when I can just stop and smell the ocean. Where I can just sit there all day, seemingly without a care in the world.
Deserts cover 20 percent of the earth’s land surface, which is close to thirty million square miles. Deserts are large and dry regions that receive very little amount of rainfall per year, have a lot of bare soil and low vegetation cover. Despite the common misconception of all deserts being dry and hot, there are cold deserts as well. Areas covered in ice or snow, with limited vegetation plantation, are sometimes called 'cold deserts '. However, in this essay, we will be discussing on survival in hot desert.
