During the 1920's there was a ban on alcohol that turned into a violent criminal uproar. This was called Prohibition. While the ban on online gambling has not caused any kind of dangerous uproar, it is still similar to prohibition, because much like people still found ways to drink in the 1920's, people are still finding ways to gamble online. Overturning this ban will cause many benefits to the public. If online gambling were legal it would be very easy to regulate. It would be more beneficial because it would be safer to gamble online with a legal cite. The the online gambling bans limit the peoples rights to spend money as they see fit. However, legislators often hold up these rare cases as evidence of widespread lawlessness and thus justification for laws that would ban or severally limit Americans' ability to gamble online.”(Minton, Michelle). In Minton's article about gambling she explains that, all gambling is going to have some kind of cheaters. It is statistically safer to use online means of gambling. In a normal casino, people use many gimmicks, such as card counting or slight of hand. Which is nearly impossible to detect, until use of a camera after the criminal has already left the casino for good. Gambling online however, if someone hacks the system and changes the outcome, then there is always a chance they can be caught. It can and will be abused by individuals and they may end up in poverty. There is no way around the cons that come with online gambling, but they are the same cons that come with any kind of substance abuse. Addiction is the number one problem that would come with the overturning of the ban that is placed on online gambling. Morals are a big issue when it comes to the legalization of online gambling. Many people view gambling as wrong even in regular public casinos. Most people do not have a basis to this though, and because they feel like it is wrong that it should be illegal. Many of the politicians who passed this bill feel this way about online gambling, but when exploited further the government has slowly started lifting the bans, and some websites are legal in some cities where the service has taken
