When a child is adopted into a loving a family, it is standard procedure for a new birth certificate to be issued. The new birth certificate will have the adoptee’s new name, along with the names of the adoptive parents. All references to the adoptee’s birth name, the name of the adoptee’s birth parents, and the reasons of the adoption, are omitted. Now, the original birth certificate is placed in a court file confidential which is sealed and unavailable. However, many believe the records should be sealed forever, while others believe the records should be opened so that helps adoptees can discover their biological background and heritage. I cannot receive any records on whom I am or where I come from. I have the privilege to grow up with my three older brothers. However, the most we know about our birth parents is that they were abusive and unstable. We have little facts that our adopted parents decided to share with us such as our birth mother first name. However, that not much to go on without a last name or even a birthday. Therefore, if there were a open adoption process for both birth parents and adoptive parents, so that the open adoption can allow a greater degree of control in the decision-making process. This process can allow a child questions about who their birthparents are, and why they were adopted. Open adoption can also help the child come to terms with being adopted, because the child’s concerns can be addressed directly by everyone who was involved in the adoption process. Furthermore, if we had an open adoption records it would indicate the higher possibilities of us finding out more about birth parents. I believe that adoptee should have legal rights to know who their birth parents regardless if one’s birth parent chose to have a close adoption. In conclusion, open adoption recorded should be considered throughout the world. So that it can ensure that adoptee’s know more about their biological background and heritage. With this said we should all considered the movement of an open adoption record and inspire other around us to purse the dreams of many adoptees who have a close adoption record and will like to know more about who they
