Operation Barbarossa took place on June 22nd, 1941 where German troops decided to try to defeat the Soviet Union. Hitler decided to invade the Soviet Union because of he wanted to claim land for Germany and he was against the Non- Aggression Pact which the Soviet Union signed. Hitler wanted to get rid of Jews and Communists who were against Germans because he believed that Germans were superior to them. The Germans goal was to completely get rid of all the Jews serving as mistake because they felt that the Soviet Union were not as strong. They viewed the Soviet Union Troops as weak and did not really know what they were getting their selves into. The Soviet Union Forces suffered a great loss because Germany teamed up with Finland and Romania coming into the Soviet Union by surprise. Germany wanted to go through Moscow but Soviet Union Troops put a fight in order to stop this from happening. In the end Operation Barbarossa had failed due to the thaw in March 1942 and the Soviet Union Troops proved their worth. …show more content…

In the year 1941, the Soviet Union decided to have their weapons such as tanks all spread out in the front. In November 1942, the Red Army for the Soviet Union decided to create a plan to take out the Germans called the Plan Uranus. On September 13th, 1942 the Germans plan their Final Attack in the Center of the Soviet Union but, this operation that they were hoping to create was stopped. In December 24th, 1942 when Germans fight a relief group in the Soviet Union and because of this the Soviet Union decided to bring out their red soldiers to fight the Germans.
