"Before you begin the journey of revenge, dig two graves." In the play Hamlet, Hamlet needs to get revenge on the person who killed his father. But, on his road to revenge, Hamlet affects many people in the path. When people seek revenge, they often at times affect others more than the person they wanted to take revenge on in the first place. Hamlets revenge impacts and affects many major characters throughout the play. Ophelia is Hamlet's lover and gets involved with Hamlet. Because of Hamlet's madness and their connection, the madness rubbed off on her. He would go over to her and say crazy things. Although his revenge was in no way directed to her, his madness rubbed off on her. We see her madness come out when Ophelia laments; "Please just listen. He is dead and gone, lady. He is dead and gone. At his head a patch of grass and at his feet, a tombstone" (4.5.2) singing the whole time.
