These drugs have claimed more lives than any other drug. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than two million Americans abused or were dependent on opiates in the past year. Opioids are supposed to be for recreational purposes; instead, people are using them for pleasure. This addiction is dangerous and could be deadly. The only way to get people to stop abusing opiates is inform them about what really happens. Facts state that about a quarter of the people who receive such prescriptions eventually start abusing painkillers. President Trump claims that the way to stop this is to get rid of the loopholes in the postal system. He wants to urge the Drug Enforcement Administration to reduce the number of opioids that are sold. However, this could be a problem because there some people who are in real pain and there is no actual way of really knowing if someone is feeling actual pain or if they are faking. This may slow the problem down a little but it does not deplete the fact that people who are truly addicted will always find a way to get their hands on these drugs. They have no control over a teenager getting into the medicine cabinet and taking these pills for their own personal use or for their friends. Doctors cannot control what adults do with these pills. There labels on these pill bottles that tell you exactly what not to do and they also tell you how many are enough and how many hours apart can you take them. It is not necessarily a doctor’s fault. The doctors are not the ones to be blamed; it is the person who thinks that it is okay to abuse these drugs.
