I am sincerely honored to have been selected as one of the recipients of the Opportunity Scholarship. Thanks to your support, I am one step closer to achieving my dream.

As an immigrant, I understand the value of education and cherish the opportunities present in life to advance. Growing up alongside my classmates, I envied their luck to have been born in a rich country and have access to unlimited resources. Aside our difference in status, we were the same, American, with one dream: going to college. At times I questioned the possibility of furthering my education. South Carolina prohibits in-state tuition for DACA recipients and denies any type of federal and state aid. This rendered a financial impossibility for me and I was left distraught. There were days I would cry not knowing what to do. Countless of hours spent studying, worth nothing. Then I found hope; The Opportunity Scholarship. The Opportunity scholarship offers a chance at life, an opportunity for self betterment. It demonstrates that people care. That strangers care about students like me and for the future of America. This award will not only lessen the financial burden brought upon by governing laws, but it will bring both my parents’ hard work and mine to fruition.
