OPRAH WINFREY BACKGOUND Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko , Mississippi. She was raised by her strict grandmother, Hattie Mae on a farm for six years. Oprah began to speak in the church where her grandmother used to attend assemblies at the age of three. Vernita, Oprah’s mother get a job as an assistant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and took back Oprah from her grandmother when she was six years old. Same as in farms, In Milwaukee Oprah is still very poor and had to stay in a room with his mother and two half-brothers. Every day Vernita leave the children early in the morning and come home at night, which make her to have restricted time to spend with the family which lead to Oprah often run away from home in order to gain her mother’s attention. This turn to be a perfect career opening for Oprah, where the audience liked her sense of humor, honesty, and her down to earth personality. Oprah got her big break In Television industry at 1984 when she was asked to host her own show in Chicago named A. M. Chicago. The show was aired at the same time as Phil Donahue Show which was popular among Chicago audience at the time, however it did not take longer for Oprah to replace Phil Donahue thus made herself to be a Television star in 120 major cities across America in a short of time.
