Oprah Gail Winfrey, fondly known as Oprah Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi on 29th January 1954. Oprah was the illegitimate daughter of a Mississippi sharecropper. After her birth, her parents separated. She then grew up and overcame racism, sexual abuse, parental neglect and poverty. She is one of the few women who are self-made billionaire with an estimated net worth of $2.9 billion as of March 2014. She is the founder of Harpo Production Inc. that was founded in 1986. From the terrible childhood she had, she could have given up on her life. But, she believed in herself and made her to be successful. Despite being fired from her job due to not being able to control her emotions, she begins to rise up and earned a place to become a co-anchor in a talk show, and that is where she begins to know her niche area, and became the founder of Harpo Production Inc. and also became the first black woman to start her own television network, Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
