Oprah Gail Winfrey was born January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her parents are Vernita Lee and Vernon Winfrey but she was raised by her dad who lived in Nashville, Tennessee. Oprah has two siblings named Patricia Lee and Jeffrey Lee. Oprah’s brother, Jeffrey Lee, died of AIDS in 1989 (“Oprah Winfrey” Biography.com). Oprah has another sister named Patricia Lofton. Vernita, Oprah’s mom, put Patricia up for adoption when Oprah was nine years old. Oprah graduated from Nashville East High School and while attending she was very smart. She got a full scholarship to Tennessee State University, where she attended college.
