Who is Oprah Winfrey? Not many people knew of Oprah when she first started her career. She is from the small town of Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah has risen to become one of the most influential women in history. The life that Oprah lived, before she became who she is today, was not all glorified and easy as it may seem (cnn1). Oprah was born to an unwed mother. Gail, Oprah’s mom looked for employment in the North, therefore she spent the first five years on her grandmother’s farm. Her life on the farm was primitive. Oprah’s grandmother taught her how to read and write at an early age. The church and Oprah’s grandmother cherished her as a gifted child (bio1-2). In order to hike up ratings rather than serve as an educational dialogue, called it “Catalyze a Lynch Mob Mentality.” During this time Winfrey met Dr. Phil McGraw, who found pathways, a self-motivation seminar, as well as the company courtroom sciences. Phil helped council Oprah during this period of time (Vanifyfair1-2). Oprah’s debut of Oxygen in 1999 was outstandingly successful. Oprah co-founded is dedicated to producing cable and Internet programming for women. Her place in the forefront was insured of the media industry. She concluded in 2002, a deal with the network to air prime time compliments to her talk show. She signed a new contract to continue “The Oprah Winfrey Show” through 2010-2011. In one year more than 100 countries during the first season, tuned in and watched Oprah’s show (Vanityfair2-3). Today Oprah’s life is still going with the flow of many involvements. The color purple brought Oprah an Oscar nomination. Many people call Oprah lucky, because of many talents that brought her to popularity. Oprah said “Luck” means to her meeting opportunities. Oprah rose from listening to the radio as a child, to being one of the most talked about and anonymous women in the world
