My future career goals is constantly expanding and evolving as my knowledge of the field of optometry continues to grow, but having recently taken Neuroanatomy this year, having shadowed Dr. Den Beste where I encountered patients suffering from neurological problems associated with the eye, and having spent time with my uncle who is undergoing extensive therapy having developed left homonymous hemianopia after suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke due to a ruptured aneurysm, I have become incredibly fascinated and intrigued by the way the nervous system works. My future career goal is to become an optometrist specializing in neuro-optometric rehabilitation. During the course of my career, I also intend to continue to take up several volunteer humanitarian opportunities in the U.S. and abroad to impoverished countries to help those who cannot afford simple eye care services. My expectations and hope as a future neuro-optometrist is the hope that one day I will be given the chance to attend optometry school, just the thought of just being blessed with the opportunity to discover, gain more knowledge, and grow a deeper understand about the field of optometry just excites me to my core, which will only feed the growing passion I have for science and the field of optometry.
