The symphony I attended was the Orchestra of the Bronx at Lehman College on June 5th of 2016. The concert ensemble included members of the string, brass, and woodwind families with a piano and timpani accompanying the performance for brief moments. The concert started precisely at 3pm and the works of Felix Mendelssohn's Overture to Fingal's Cave, Beethoven’s Symphony No.2 in D Major, and Robert Schumann’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in a Minor.
At the beginning of the concert the first piece that was played was dated from the Romantic Era; the use of string instruments were dominant and provided an introduction to the next musical set. Beethoven’s Symphony No.2 in D Major was from the Classical Era and the final musical set of Schumann’s Concerto was from the Romantic Era. Despite each set of music were from different musical Eras, the audience and I found every performance unique and memorable. Towards the end of the orchestra the audience gave a standing ovation and was treated with an encore performance from the pianist. The pianist at the orchestra was Maxim Pakhomov who provided an outstanding, memorable and moving performance. The final performance of the orchestra left the audience in a state of wonder. A remarkable presentation was performed by the entire orchestra where string, brass, timpani, and piano were included. Each set of performers were in sync with the conductor and pianist by providing a deep sense of emotion and mood to the audience. It was an aspiring and beautifully mastered compositional piece with the change of dynamics from Allegro Affettuoso and ending in an Allegro Vivace tempo.
