First I would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to Oregon State University. As a new student, you will encounter different experiences and challenges over the course of your years at Oregon State. You will come in contact with many new people and different types of organizations. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about our organization. I understand that this may or may not be the first letter you've received from a Fraternity. I, however, would like to emphasize that we are different than any other organization on campus. We are an organization dedicated to the idea of growth. While others focus on what they've done, we focus on what we're becoming. Our organization is dedicated to graduating our members while also serving our communities. In total, our members have delivered 30,000 hours of volunteer work. Our membership includes brothers from many different races, colors, creeds, and different walks of life. Our Diversity is our strength. We believe that race is a limiting concept that forces people of a nationality and/or color into preconceived roles and expectations. However, any man will tell you that people of the same nationality can be as different as day and night in their beliefs and ideals. A culture, however, is defined by a shared set of ideas, traditions, and values. Omega Delta Phi is founded on the concept that in order to truly grow as a person one must experience views which can challenge preconceived perceptions to foster growth and enlightenment.
