It is known that the origins of the Constitution relate to the foreign policy that is used today. The way the founding fathers formed the Constitution has allowed us to continue to use the same format they created up until today when dealing with foreign policy. The founding fathers distributed the powers for foreign policy to the three branches of government. For example, the Constitution gave foreign policy powers to the three branches of government, but mostly to the executive branch as the president is the commander in chief. The Constitution also gave power to the congress and therefore shares it with the president - both of them make the foreign policy of the United States. The interests of the founding fathers also played an important role in shaping the Constitution and the future of foreign policy. For example, the founding fathers interests were mostly based in the economy and their property which made them want to secure their property and the economy of the new country that was developing. These were white men who were wealthy and interested in their country, so they decided to include laws in the Constitution that would allow them to continue with their economic and property wealth. The founders’ ideological interests also shaped the Constitution, in the way that since they were in the upper social class they wanted to control the new country and therefore removed the Articles of Confederation that were weak and gave them no power. The Articles of Confederation were changed to the Constitution that gave them complete power over the country. …show more content…
