He blamed it on his higher education and how it put him in such a place that no one can relate to him.
In Chapters 5-10, Victor Frankenstein has just finished his “creation” and is bringing the monster to life. In the beginning of chapter five he is horrified and disgusted by what he has created that he storms out of the room and collapses in his bed room. Yesterday, Tuesday October 20th, we strolled into room 717 and picked up a paper entitled “Before You Read: Frankenstein Chapters 17-21.” After the bell had rung, we pledged our allegiance to the flag and either watched or tried to continue talking over the sound of the morning show. Once the morning show had ended, Mrs. Way told us all to move into our assigned seats and we began class. We were instructed to read the two sections under “Background” on the paper that we had picked up as we walked into the room. The two paragraphs we read “The British Isles” and “Did You Know?” taught us about the setting of Frankenstein and the purpose of suspense and foreshadowing in literature.
This quote from Frankenstein is extremely important and significant in this novel. Firstly, Victor brags about how good his childhood was compared to everyone else, explaining how he grew up. Victor also describes his parents as indulgent, or having or indicating a tendency to be overly generous to or lenient with someone, as well as describing his companions as amiable, or having a friendly or pleasant manner. Victor’s parents, also Victor’s creator, gave him an enjoyable childhood. However, Victor, the monster’s creator, gave the monster an absolutely terrible childhood, due to the fact that the monster had no one to look up to.

“It’s alive! It’s alive!” When people think of Frankenstein, they usually jump immediately to the scene of creation and think of two things: 1) a big green monster with bolts screwed into his head and 2) Dr. Frankenstein’s exaltation and genuine excitement over creating his perfect masterpiece. However, in Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein, the “infamous” scene of creation appears in only one paragraph and Frankenstein feels something more akin to anguish rather than joy. In this way, Mary Shelley exemplifies how creation is actually an act of suffering.
Over the past century, Frankenstein has been analyzed and interpreted in seemingly infinite different forms of literature, film, and television shows. Once solely recognized as the story about a brilliant scientist who creates a creature in whom he regrets making after the creature turns out ugly, Frankenstein now represents an internationally recognized and commercialized pop culture symbol for Halloween decorations and costumes. When analyzing and appreciating the true literary essence behind Mary Shelley’s original Frankenstein, one of the most important comparisons to consider remains the underlying influences behind the Creature’s immoral actions and whether or not the blame for these actions belong to Victor or the Creature. When exploring the dichotomy of the Creature versus Victor Frankenstein, one of the biggest and most widely debated questions remains whether Victor should be blamed for the Creature’s destructive actions or if the Creature should be considered guilty for his actions based off of his own free will. Many consider Victor Frankenstein the villain of the story due to his repetitive decisions to abandon and avoid his own “mistake,” the irresponsible choice of creating the monster in the first place, and his obvious negligence of the Creature’s feelings.

A Key Passage Analysis: The Ascent is Precipitous… This passage taken from Mary Shelley’s horror novel, Frankenstein, on page 66-67 describes the atmosphere and ponderings of Victor Frankenstein as he solitarily ascends to the summit of Montanvert. After feeling grievance and despair as he blames himself for the death of both his brother, William and his servant, Justine, Victor attempts to find solace in the majesty of nature to repair his emotional state. However, his descriptions of the environment are somewhat grim and bleak, contrasting the pleasant and peaceful mood that being in the natural world typically evokes.
In the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the theme is on how family, society, and isolation affects him. Throughout the novel the monster is constantly founded upon because of his deformation. The villagers, Felix, Victor, and several other would not give him a chance to prove to them he is not what he appears to be. The themes of family, society and isolation have to do with the monster wanted a family, the society treating him differently based on his appearance and the creature isolating himself from the world due to the reactions humankind gives him. To begin with, family is a huge part in the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley because the creature strives for a true family.
Science and knowledge are two important factors in society around the 19th century. Mary Shelley supports the connection of these two key topics throughout her writing in the novel, Frankenstein. With her style, structure, and Romantic elements portrayed in the novel, she discusses that scientific progress/knowledge is dangerous and harmful as it places man above God and destroys his morals. This is done by examples of appeals to emotion, imagery, and figures of speech that convey her style and ultimately ends up as support of the previous statement.
