Citizen Kane is a drama made by Orson Welles, who is the producer, co-author, director, and star of this movie. Citizen Kane was produced in the year of 1941. This film was made by trying to represent what the American dream is. What Orson Welles means by trying to represent the American dream by producing Citizen Kane is life should be better, richer, and full of life for everybody and Orson Welles uses film techniques to represent what the American dream is to him. As the movie goes along Orson Welles shows through the film techniques how life is better, how the dream can be successful, and how reassuring the dream is, but all these benefits can turn bad if people uses these benefits for bad things. For example where Orson Welles uses the lighting to affect the mood is where when Charlie Kane is writing his Declaration of Principles. The Declaration of Principles says that, “Mr. Kane will provide the freedom and uphold the citizens’ rights”. As he is writing his document the lighting of the in the room hides Kane’s face and there is a feeling of uncertainty while he is writing his document. The sound that effects the mood has great importance in all movies, especially in Citizen Kane. One example where the sound is affects the mood is where Mr. Kane is having the dinner with all if his workers. The sound has great energy and everybody is dancing, yelling, and having fun as well as Mr. Kane. Another example of sound is the opening scene of Citizen Kane. The music has a creepy, mancando feel to the film and affects the mood in a big way. The scene starts off with the music, its dark, and storming. As the scene goes on the film shows Charlie Kane dying on his bed.
