Over the years orthodontists have treated more and more adults. Andrew Newman states from 1994 to 2010, the number of Americans 18 and older getting braces or some other teeth straightening treatment form an orthodontist has jumped 58 percent, to 1.1 million from 680,000 annually, according to the American Association of Orthodontists. It is normal for an adult to have braces now a days. The advertisement was by Athorn, Clark & Partners, a Manhattan marketing communications company. They also did television, radio, and online advertising. The content 33 year old woman said that she had always wanted to improve her smile and at 30 years old she did. This should give an adult an ease that its not too late to get their dream smile. They are trying to emotionally connect with other adults around that age. The big bold letters are one to catch the audiences eyes and make them think. Ethos was also used in this ad. They confidently stated, "Whether you 're considering aligners, retainers, or today 's braces, an orthodontist is the smart choice. Orthodontists are specialists in straightening teeth and aligning your bite, They have two to three years of education beyond dental school. So they 're experts a helping you get a great smile - that feel great too." This is trying to gain the audiences trust and convince them that they should trust the orthodontists 'the experts ' because of the extra knowledge they have over a dentist. I believe they did a good job in using pathos and ethos technics. They were aiming towards adults seeking prettier smiles.
