This service with draw interest of people who aren’t exactly sure what they are interested in reading; just wanting to try something or just want the excitement of not knowing what title they will be borrowing exactly. Also, may draw in patrons who normally just buy the books released by their favorite authors and want to try something new but are not prepared to pay the cost of a new book unsure if they would like it. They are responsible for the marketing and publications for all of the library branches within Oshawa. They will be adding a feature into the monthly print and online newsletter publication promoting the program. The will also create and print some poster, signs, flyers and bookmarks to promote this new program. On the libraries website a feature post will be added to ensure patrons are aware of the start date July 1, 2016 and ends date September 3, 2016 of the program. Price There is not fee to participate in the program but patrons must have a valid Oshawa Public Library card. Individuals who live in Durham Region can register for a library card at no cost at one of the Oshawa Public Library branches. Applicants must have proof of their residential address to register. Implementation Strategies The “Blind Date with a Book” program will run for the summer months at each of the Oshawa branches. Each book will be carefully selected by a library staff members covered in a brown paper wrapping and taped. On the front of each book written on the wrapping with a sharpie the book will be labeled either adult or young adult, to differentiate the reading level of each title. Also included on the wrapping will be vague details regarding genre, and subjects of each title. Patrons are encouraged to try something new, that way they don’t borrow a book they have already read. Preparation: Deadline: Selecting the titles June 12-18,
