In Othello you will find that everyone isn’t always how they may seem to be. They would lie just to become close to you and get what they want. In Othello Act 5, Scene 2 there are conflicts between Othello and Iago. “Emilia: Then you told a lie, a sick, wicked lie. I swear on my soul it was a lie. You said she slept with Cassio. Did you say Cassio? Iago: Yes, with Cassio. Now be quiet.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Page 10) Iago had told Othello that his wife Desdemona cheated on him with Cassio. When all of it was just a lie so Iago can get a chance to kill Cassio. “Othello: It’s sad, but Iago knows she had sex with Cassio a thousand times.Cassio confessed it, and she pledged her love for him by giving him the handkerchief I’d given to her. man supports the central idea that everyone isn’t always how they seem to be and this is shown because when you’re friends with someone their true identity will eventually reveal itself at some point in time. “Iago: I’m bleeding, but you didn’t kill me.” “Othello: I’m not sorry, either. I want you to live, since to me, death is happiness.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Page 16) Othello wanted Iago to live miserable since he made Othello commit murder to someone who was completely innocent and who he loved dearly. Nobody would really think that Iago was that devious to make someone do that. “Othello: I believe you, and I ask you to forgive me. Will you please make this half-devil say why he tricked me and damned my soul?” “Iago: Don’t ask me anything. You know what you know. From this moment on, I’ll never say another word.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Page 16-17) Iago has been caught and everyone now knows that Othello was tricked into killing Desdemona.
