This highly popular style, which is recognizable due to its rhythmic beats and poetic lyricism, is heavily influenced by African American and Afro-Caribbean communities in America. OutKast's impact on Hip-Hop culture extends far beyond the borders of Atlanta, Georgia. In fact, their music has inspired artists around the world, influencing everything from fashion and slang to music production techniques and lyrical content. These two young men set out on a dream in Atlanta and were able to provide visibility, comfort and entertainment to people from around the world. Furthermore, the duo’s willingness to embrace their southern roots and celebrate their heritage helped to elevate Southern hip-hop onto the global stage, paving the way for future generations of Southern artists to achieve success. Two African American artists emerging with success from the South showcase how people are able to find success even amid racial inequality and prejudice. Their actions, however small and unintended, serve as an inspiration to younger generations.
