The vital transferable skill for my successful career is ‘Gathering Information’. I received a request to write 2 years plan to improve my skill and write a memo to approve it. I will read ‘Outliers: The Story of Success’ by Malcolm Gladwell and ‘Competitive Intelligence: How To Gather Analyze And Use Information To Move Your Business To The Top’ by Larry Kahaner. The first one is Outliers which means successful person. This book is talking about the secret of the success opportunity by showing the extremely successful people, a story that focuses on intelligence and ambition (Indigo). The author believes great people and success are linked to concepts of specialization, collaboration, time, place, and culture. In the book, chapter 2 explains the 10,000 Hour Rule. In fact, the book is explaining the way to become a successful person and 10,00 hours rule cannot guarantee the success life because sometimes it is not working due to the other reasons (Baer). However, this chapter can give an opportunity to think about the importance of the practice. This is because I can start to gather information from many sources such as social media and fashion magazines after reading the books and then trying to figure out the fashion trend and writing the journals. The second book is ‘Competitive Intelligence: How To Gather Analyze And Use Information To Move Your Business To The Top’ by Larry Kahaner. This book is focusing on gather and analyze the information for the business.
