The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman reminds me of the song "Mad World" by Tears for Fears. The lyrics of the song describe a world that is filled with pain and sorrow, and the narrator of the song feels trapped and powerless in the face of the world's overwhelming sadness. Similarly, the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper is trapped in a room with wallpaper that seems to be closing in on her, and she feels powerless to escape the oppressive environment. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I am filled with a sense of relief and freedom that I have not felt in weeks. The room with the yellow wallpaper is finally behind me, and I am determined to move forward and to reclaim my life and my identity.
