Humanity prejudges others for many various reasons whether it is based on race, gender, culture, sexuality, etc. We sometimes forejudge others without even knowing it just because we grew up thinking that its’ “okay” or “normal”. It’s not okay but society has that impact on us all and we feel as though we can do it without facing consequences. Based on what I’ve read in "C.P. Ellis" by Studs Terkel and "Veiled Intentions" by Maysan Haydar, both authors believe that prejudice is something a person is taught, but they both experienced prejudice differently;

I enjoyed reading your post. You provided great definitions of both individual prejudice and institutional discrimination. There are two “forms” or dimensions of prejudice. One form of prejudice is known as feeling or affective prejudice (Healey & O’Brien, 2015, p. 21). This is where one has negative feelings towards certain groups and/or people of that group.
Throughout the history of the United States, prejudice has always been creeping around the dark corners at night, and even during the day time at the local grocery store. Prejudice is a negative attitude toward members of a group. This is heavily ingrained into our society. In fact, within the article from The New York Times, How Kids Learn Prejudice, by Katherine D. Kinzler, depicts how children soak up any information given to them, especially from parents. Prejudice leaves America wondering how can we improve our own humanity, involving how to decrease the level of prejudice that wanders around our cities and towns.
However, its presence in the world is still felt as some individuals refuse to ‘open their eyes to reality’ and, thus, they continue to be deluded into a false reality. On that note, one can be sure that any form of prejudice will continue to be in existence, whether in the form of race, class, sex, age or religion. So long as there is one individual that holds some form of false beliefs, the cycle of prejudice will continue indefinitely. Nevertheless, it should not mean that we should succumb to prejudice and all become prejudiced ourselves because it will only lead to more complications and problems - which our society has had its fair
Robert Smith Intro and Body Paragraph There are many causes of prejudice. In Vincent Parillo’s, “The Causes of Prejudice” he defines the sociological causes of prejudice. In order to understand why people act this way you need to understand the roots behind it. The sociological causes of prejudice include the theories of the socialization process, economic competition and social norms.
When we say prejudice it is most commonly known to be relating to race. In my experiences at school, there were cases of prejudice based on academic performance. Whenever a teacher would assign a group assignment students with higher averages would join together leaving those with lower averages to group with each other. This usually negatively affects many friendships since one may care more about their marks than their friends. This affected my relationships with my peers that I always worked with positively, but the relationship with those who I never or rarely worked with did not go so well.
One would think prejudice is a thing of the past. Unfortunately, that is not the case, prejudice is still a common factor in todays society. Vincent N. Parrillo’s essay “Causes of Prejudice,” helped me to understand how we are affected not just psychologically but in a sociological way as well, as John A. Camacho explains in his A Few Bad Apples opinion piece published in the Pacific Daily News. Both forms of prejudice are continued to be explained through Stud Turkel’s “C.P Ellis,” he gives us an understanding of psychological and sociological prejudice through C.P Ellis’own experiences. This furthers our understanding on how we can be affected by both psychological and sociological prejudices.
How did prejudice happen in this world that God made? Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. In this world, there are a lot of prejudice. Prejudice doesn´t happen suddenly but it happens from a root. Everything happens from a root and that causes to be or do something.

The three psychological theories which are used to explain the causes of prejudice and discrimination will be evaluated and outlined in this essay. Prejudice is a negative feeling directed at members of a group just because they are part of the group. Discrimination can be seen as the behavioural expression of prejudice i.e. the behaviour or negative actions, directed at members of other group, mainly based on their sex, ethnicity, age or social class. The mass murder of Jews by the Nazi’s in the Second World War is an example of prejudice and discrimination. Prejudice comprises of affection, behaviour and cognition of an individual, whereas discrimination only involves the behaviour.
As described by Society: The Basics, the four theories of prejudice include: the scapegoat theory, authoritarian personality theory, culture theory, and the conflict theory. The scapegoat theory claims prejudice is rooted in the frustration from those who are disadvantaged. People use prejudice to express their anger and frustration. With the authoritarian personality theory, it is theorized that being prejudice is a part of individual personality traits. This is theorized due to research that demonstrates if a person is prejudice towards one minority, they are prejudice to all minorities.
Prejudice is defined by psychologists as exhibiting a wrongly negative attitude towards a person because of his/her association with a group. In this case, a religion. Prejudice against Muslims has reached an all-time historic high over the past 17 years. Ever since the event of 9/11, in which two planes were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York and another was crashed into the Pentagon, the world has been confused, afraid, and angry. Confused because we hadn 't seen an attack of this magnitude both happen and get broadcast at the same time.
