An Outlook on Administration Josh Janzen Mayville State University Abstract The following is a detailed report on the administration perspective when it relates to; the pros and cons of administration, determining whether or not you’re administration material, along with the stress of the job. You will often be the lead decision maker. You will typically have a least some control in key decisions. This control allows you to put your stamp on what everyone does and how they do it. It provides you with the opportunity to implement the vision that you have. Credit for Successes You will get credit when credit is due. When the team succeeds, you also succeed. You get to celebrate in those successes because a decision you made somewhere along the line likely helped lead to that success. When someone associated with the team is recognized for outstanding achievement in some area it typically means that the right decisions have been made. This can often be traced back to leadership. It may be as straightforward as hiring the right person, implementing the right program, or offering the right motivation. Larger Impact The decisions you make can affect everyone. For example, when you work to improve a young employee who needs some direction and guidance, it has a tremendous impact on both the employee and every team member they will ever teach. In my opinion, you are much more liable to be judged by the performance of others because that is part of your job. After weighing out all of the pros and cons, I think I would like to be in a position with a lot of responsibility. I would enjoy the challenge of getting a group of people to follow me and perform well at what they do. I would like to be someone that others look up to when they think of an organized, accountable, responsible leader. The one thing I would not like is being away from my family. I would most likely have a lot more hours on the job away from the ones I love. But if the situation was right, I think we could figure something out that can make everyone happy. In conclusion, there are a lot of things that need to be taken into account when deciding whether or not you would be cut out for an administrative position. You have to make sure you are ready to take on such a heavy responsibility but I think that if you approach it the right way with your best effort and the right attitude. It can be a very fun and rewarding experience that would allow you to support your family for a very long
