Outsiders Essential Question Money can change some people’s lives, whether it’s a negative or a positive impact. However, the reason why people change isn’t that of how they’re born, but what they’re influenced by. My essential question for friendship is on: Is there really a big difference between the Socs and the Greasers other than money that separates them? First, The reason why I think Greasers and the Socs hate each other is because how they act towards them and since they are “different”. But what they don’t know is that they are like each other. I think that it can, considering in the book when the Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy, Johnny ended up killing Bob, one of the Socs’ member. All he did was to save his best friend, but then ended up crossing the line and ought to run after that. He felt so terrible and had anxiousness is another tragedy due to depression. Another event in the book answers my question which was when Johnny died after he saved his friend Ponyboy again and the children from the fire. He cares about his friends a lot and to people, he doesn’t know and that’s why he went in to save them, or else he wouldn’t have saved them in the first place. Anyways, the cycle continued when Dally died from the cops trying to stop him from robbing the store because he couldn't take it anymore. Johnny was the only treasure Dally had, so he did everything like giving guns, money and helping him when he was running away from the cops-even if he could in trouble but then now that johnny is dead, he has nothing. This means that friendship and caring, the more painful it is when there is something tragic. The Greasers later found about two of their friends are gone and will never come back. This doesn’t just within the Greasers but the Socs too. Like I said, Johnny killed Bob which led to his parents and his friend Randy in so much pain. In the first paragraph, I explained about how Randy was talking about Bob and how he was a fine guy. Now, I can prove that the Socs have some sort of wonderful relationship between each other since Randy was so hurt which meant that he cared for Bob a lot.
