Christy Brown’s autobiography My Left Foot told the story of his life. Christy was an author, poet, and painter. He’s written 9 poems and novels in his time. In the novel that our class read “My Left Foot” Christy overcomes many obstacles dealing with a severe case of Cerebral Palsy. Christy’s disease baffled doctors, as they all thought he had a mental disability but his mother knew they were wrong. He had twenty two siblings but only seventeen lived and four died in shortly after birth leaving only thirteen of them. Christy was disabled for a very long time before he showed any sign of hope. His mother had never lost hope in what she was told was a hopeless case. From when he was a child he had to go to many doctors who all had the same answer. His mother also had many troubles with the doctors because no one would listen to her and take into consideration what she was saying. In his teen years he slowly started figuring out how to control things. When he was older he married a woman then divorced a few years later do to abuse. Christy had troubles with alcohol which that wife denied him from until a day's work was done. I believe that Christy was an extremely brave and tough man. If he were to go through what he did in our times it would most likely end differently. Now we have more medicines that could help him along and physiotherapists that could stretch him and get him to live with Cerebral Palsy.
