Some of the most famous or important people in the world, empower themselves to become what they want to be or how they solve their personal problems. If being empowered by someone else, then they can go off without knowing what to do and where to start. When empowering yourself, then there is a better chance of you getting more over obstacles in life and becoming more confident. Many famous authors even use examples of the characters empowering themselve. In the poem Still I Rise, Maya Angelou mentions a girl who was part of slavery. The character could not wait for someone to come and help her. She had to take control in her life and make sure she was successful. If she waited for someone to help her, she may never become happy. For example, in the story The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost mentions about a person looking at two diverged roads. Frost shows that the person has to pick their road to travel down to avoid problems with his trip. The character could not have someone pick the road to go down. He had to take care and control his life and make sure he would come out successful. If he waited for someone to pick a road for him, then he could never be happy and not be successful. Frost has made a clear path for the reader to show that he has to pick his own roads by mentioning “Somewhere ages and ages hence. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” So, because he did this, this means that he had the power to choose his own decisions. The traveler had the freedom choose the right things he did like avoiding problems. And in the documentary Living On A Dollar A Day, the author talks about college kids living in a place where they had to work very hard for their basic needs. At first, the people who live there they give them the money and the food they need to start off with. Then, as they continued they started to get sick and they needed the medication, but could not pay for it. So, they worked on the farms and collected the money that they needed. Because this happened, the college students finally got the medication to feel better. So, this is a powerful
