Introduction Oversexualization is sexualizing excessively. Hollywood, a symbol of the entertainment business, has implemented over-sexualization from the beginning of its founding. According to a study by USC Annenberg, Hollywood has 28.8 to 32.8 percent of female characters who are dressed in sexual clothing or fully nude(Smith 2011). When considering the social and cultural aspects of over-sexualization in the Hollywood industry, it is understood that a female's age, ethnic background, and looks affect the performer's success. Race stereotypes are placed on different ethnic groups and are portrayed as a stereotypical image that is not how they are. It occurs in the Hollywood industry, mainly in films. Female performers such as Margaret Cho claim that she and other Asian performers are tired of the hypersexualization placed on them because of their race; she says that "the characterization of Asian-ness has somehow been used as a form of dehumanization."(Weaver 2021). She and other Asian performers are aware of the characterization given to them by the Hollywood industry; it is inhuman and racist, and it makes them play roles that are "fit" for their race, such as maids, immigrants, and nannies. (weaver 2021). The stereotypical roles placed on women in the Hollywood industry are a factor in the over-sexualization of the female performer; people like Margaret Cho have to go through hypersexualization to land a role. They are not seen for their talent but for their race. According to a study done by USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, the study has found that roles given to females were usually less powerful roles to that of a man; they also found that there was discrimination in the roles given based on their physical appearance females cannot escape the emphasis on appearance; lastly, they found that females under 13 were being sexualized as 40-year-old females, and that sexualization only slowed down after they got older than 40(Mirhashem, 2014). This causes problems in the Hollywood industry where ethnicity, age, and physical appearance affect the roles of female characters and their success. Their roles are lesser than a man's role in the Hollywood industry. Sexualization is also sickening to people because of the over-sexualization of young female performers compared to older female performers. Hollywood's promotion of non-complex and
