The Case for Christ was written by Lee Strobel and published in 1998. The book follows Lee Strobel’s almost two year long journey of finding out the truth of Christ and Christianity. Strobel uses his investigative and crime reporter background to lay down the foundation of how a case is handled in court and builds upon that foundation with historical evidence and thirteen interviews with qualified experts. Strobel uses the information as if presenting it before a jury and judge in court and the evidence is laid out in such a way allowing the reader to come to come to their own conclusion to his case and research. Within Part 1 of the book he discusses eyewitness evidence, documentary evidence, corroborating evidence scientific evidence, and rebuttal evidence. First he questions whether or not the biographies of Jesus can be trusted and how they stand up to scrutiny. So Strobel travels to Denver to talk to Dr. Craig Blomberg, the writer of the book The Historical Reliability of the Gospels. Within their interview, Strobel questions Blomberg on eyewitness testimonies within the Bible. After that interview, Strobel goes to find some documentary evidence. As a result he goes to the library of the Princeton Theological Seminary to talk to Dr. Bruce Metzger. By this time in the book, Strobel is questioning if Jesus’ biographies were reliably preserved for us and this question is the basis and foundation for most of the questions in his interview with Metzger. To find corroborating evidence, Strobel goes to see Dr. Edwin Yamauchi. When talking with Yamauchi, Strobel focuses on if there’s any credible information on Jesus outside of his biographies. In chapter 5, Strobel goes to Dr. John McRay to find out if archeology can confirm or contradict Jesus’ biographies. The last chapter in Part 1 looks for rebuttal evidence by speaking with Dr. Gregory Boyd. Strobel asks Boyd a series of questions that relate to if the Jesus of Faith and the Jesus of history are the same
