Currently, people have argued about the right to own an exotic pet for their personal joy. However, if an apartment-dwelling man owns an alligator that likes the community pool, the alligator may decide to eat his neighbor 's seven year old daughter who likes to swim. Not only are exotic animals not suitable for private ownership because of their potential threat to others, they are essential to our ecosystem and belong in nature.
The largest problem with owning exotic pets is the danger that they present. Individuals are easily able to obtain an animal because of the low budget; however, people don’t recognize the harmful aspects of owning these growing exotic animals. In addition, this leads to the animals not being taken care of because of the unprepared owner. Animals require intensive care such as “living space and nutrition” (“License the Cats”). Exotic animals need care and the time when not taken care of these animals are possibly in the direction of going extinct. Exotic animals need diligent care if not done correctly it could lead to a break in the food chain. With the “potential extinction” of animals, many parts of our planet could be destroyed; our food sources would suddenly decrease, and the ecosystem will suffer (“Ban Ownership of the Exotic Pets”). On the other hand, some may argue that they have a right to own an exotic animal and keep it on private property. Such individuals can provide the time and resources that others cannot afford. Having an exotic animal can you be used for educational purposes, such as researching specific characteristic of the animal, or how the animal adapts to different habitats. TWO MORE
