History: In 1960, Sam FarberfoundedCopco, which manufactured bowl-shaped chopping block with rocker knife and large loop and knob handles on pots and lids were favored by many people with disabilities.He sold Copco in 1982, deciding to retire from the industry at the time of the sale of Copco. Soon after his retire Sam Farber, and his wife, Betsey rented a hone in France and the available kitchenware at their rented house was difficult for her use as she had developed arthritis. Betsey discomfort made Sam Farber to think "Why can 't there be wonderfully comfortable tools that are easy to use?" The cost for manufacturing at America was really high compared to Asian manufacturers. The production team found manufacturers in Japan, who accepted to produce the product according to the specification given to them by the team. OXO International later went on to produce their product in Taiwan also, which provided them a less -expensive manufacturing company. It was a key factory to them which played an important role when the strength of the dollar against the yen made it costly for them to use the original manufacturers. Growth: OXO International has been growing at a really promising rate with an annual sales growth of more than 35% on average from 1991 to 2004. In these years of manufacturing kitchenware, OXO not only achieved to win over a large market but also went on to win many awards. OXO had started their journey with just 15 items Good Grips product line in 1992, which has 7 lines with more than 5 sub-brands in the form of over 500 products. OXO under Sam Farber found the right opportunities for new products and rightly did innovation to improve the existing products at the right time. Sam Farber came into the market in 1990 with his believe to provide kitchen tools for people who used them with difficulty. He created the market of the existing vegetable peeler which was not very user- friendly, by providing a well-designed product which satisfied the user. This situation itself gives us an idea on the advantage OXO International took of the not so rightful designed and made products for their customer. The first work that OXO International launched was under the Good Grips brand, which won many design and business innovation awards, which speak a lot of their designing and business capability. The company had a very strong sales and marketing model, which helped them to reach nearly every household kitchen in
