Irony is one of the rhetorical devices in which it it uncovers the difference between the truth and something expected. We live a much different time where the cost of living has increased and the job availability has decreased. “According to the Pew Study on the American Dream, social mobility is increasingly difficult, if not impossible; the study found those born at both the top and the bottom of the “income ladder” stay where they are from one generation to the next.” (Rooks) Meaning that if you are born into poverty it is more likely than not that you will stay there. This could help to reason why politicians have a hard time coming up with a good plan of action to help those in poverty.
The United States is the wealthiest nation in the World, but in the film Born with a Wooden Spoon it is illustrated that over 37 million people in the US live below the poverty line. Some of the contributing factors for those whom suffer from poverty are low education, lack of job skills, and one parent households. These factors can lead to a state of generational poverty or poverty lasting two generations or more. The conditions an individual is born into can transcend throughout their lives and being born into poverty can create an isolated mind set of poverty. What surprised me most about the film was the lack of the ability to break the cycle of multigenerational poverty.
Friendship offers numerous blessings that enrich life. A good friend makes happy days brighter and sad days more tolerable by demonstrating loyalty, optimism, and a spirit of adventure. Loyalty is staying faithful to a friend through both good and bad times. Optimism is looking on the bright side no matter how bad the situation may be. An adventurous spirit is being willing to take risks and try new things.
But I totally disagree whereas many middle-class citizens are now lower class because many of them were never taught the important of finances which ultimately led to too much consumption. I believe that when living in poverty and in poor neighborhoods or areas it really pushes children to strive to be better. In retrospect, our upbringings do play a huge part in who we will be but not where we will be. It ultimately comes down to will we fight for happiness and financial success or be defeat by turmoil and poverty? Everyone has a chose to rise to greatness or tumble to

A study done in 2015 titled “Economic Mobility in the United States,” shows us that children who are born into families of poverty, are more likely to remain in poverty or maintain a low income as an adult compared to a child who is not.
Throughout the course of one’s life, there is a constant search for some form of happiness. We may not always realize we are on the quest for it, but it’s part of human nature. In “Silver Linings Playbook” we see this happen throughout with Pat and Tiffany, who are both searching for happiness. The film is relatable to us all in that many times we go looking for happiness only to come up empty-handed.
Each person has been taught to hope, to have a dream. I always shot for the stars; I wanted to be a princess, obviously that didn’t work out though. As every individual ages his or her aspirations become more realistic; I aspire to have a stable job and a loving family. Having dreams is an important part of everyone’s lives.
