By the 1950s most Australian cities and suburbs had access to a picture theatre. Going to the ‘flicks’ was a popular pastime for people of all ages or generations. Development and changes started happening during 1954 when the first drive-in cinema opened in Melbourne. The overall positive perception of Blaxploitation films provided many opportunities for black involvement in America’s entertainment industry that Hollywood failed to provide.
