The book I am reading is Enrique’s Journey by Sonia Nazario. I predict that the author will explore the human rights issue of Immigration Laws and the plight of illegal aliens in the United States. I believe that this issue will be important in the story because Enrique the main character in the story is very driven to find his mother who has gone herself illegally to the United States to earn money to provide an education for her children and to better the life of her family. I made this prediction because Lourdes leaves her children in Honduras as she goes to make money in the United States and her son Enrique is left saying “Donde esta mi mami?” “Where is my mom?”

After reading “Bandido” by Luis Valdez the Majority of time antagonist and protagonist are usually black and white as clear as sky. Unfortunately Luis Valdez creates a complex character call Tiburcio Vasquez of his melodrama, he like a Robin Hood who commit crimes but has respect and kindness to those around him, kind of hard not to root for him to get away. Tiburcio state “The women are not to be hard and no one I repeat no one is to be killed” (Valdez 116). In this play, Vasquez is a notorious California bandit ho commit murder which makes him the antagonist. On the other hand, Vasquez Is the main character he has a kindness and flattering aroma around him which also makes him the protagonist.
A unique writer is someone who expresses his or her feelings throughout his narratives. Junot Diaz in my opinion is one of those unique writers. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, raced only by his hard working mother, Junot Diaz learned very valuable lessons in his childhood that helped him become whom he is today. Not only does Junot Diaz write great stories, but he also tends to give us a feeling of what is meant to be an immigrant from the Dominican Republic in his stories. Diaz humbleness and compassion towards others can be seen in this writing.
Through indirect characterization, Sandra Cisneros’ vignette “Geraldo No Last Name” demonstrates that your social status is a big contributor to how you are treated in society. For instance, when the narrator describes Geraldo, they acknowledge the fact that “They never saw the kitchenettes. They never knew about the two-room flats and sleeping rooms he rented”. Cisneros gives readers enough details to conclude that because Geraldo is recognized as just another brazer and wetback, he is forced to live in these poor conditions because society views him as irrelevant. People with low social status are often ignored by society because they are seen as insignificant.
Oscar Casares created a very believable character in “Mrs. Perez” by writing about Lolas passion, bowling, and including flash backs about her younger life and family. He used these flash backs and incorporated her family to go into depth about her past, and let the readers infer why she is the way she is. The bowling ball that is repeatedly mentioned throughout the story contrast her past life. By giving her a hobby, and showing the struggles she has experienced in her past, she becomes like a real person readers empathize with. To begin with, Casares often went back in time to show her seemingly unhappy life with her now deceased husband.
Bartolome de Las Casas was born in 1848 in Spain. Las Casas was a Spanish historian and dominican missionary who objected the Spanish treatment of the Natives. The book Enrique’s Journey by Sonia Nazario is a nonfiction book based on a real story told throughout 367 pages. The reason why I decided to read this book is that it was highly recommended by one of my former English teachers. I was extremely persuaded to read this book by her but I also personally believed that by reading this book I would gain a new understanding of life by really opening my mind to new experiences that other people go through.

Romano quietly observed his brother from his hiding place, stalks of corn towering over him in their late summer prime. A ladybug ventured onto his hand, sending shivers up his arm. He flicked it away in disgust and silently cursed Alfred for his insistence on the World Meeting being held here in the middle of nowhere, USA. The only things to do out here were to be bitten by unknown bugs, sit around, and plot suicide brought on by chronic boredom. Romano didn't understand how anyone could survive here for one week and leave with their sanity still intact, much less their entire lives.
