Task 1: The company I work for is Steven Eagell Toyota, Milton Keynes. I work in the fleet department, in an office upstairs with seven other people. Steven Eagell Toyota is a well-established car dealership company. Steven Eagell dealerships are located in the south-east of England. Steven Eagell has 22 car dealerships well together. These consist of Toyota and Lexus. Some examples of Toyota dealerships are Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Luton. Some examples of Lexus dealerships are Cambridge, Southend and Hatfield. The first Steven Eagell dealership was Milton Keynes which was established in 2002. In every Steven Eagell dealership there is lots of departments. Some examples of public sector companies would be: • Schools • Libraries • Public Transport • Healthcare • Emergency Services Voluntary Sector Companies: A voluntary sector company is one which is non profitable, this means that they are nor making a profit. Voluntary companies aim is not to make money. If they is money which is made it is normally put back into the company to improve it. Some examples of voluntary sector companies: • Oxfam • Age UK • The Save the Children Fund • Cancer Research UK • The national Trust Steven Eagell Toyota is a private sector company. I know this because the company is not run or helped by the government meaning it is not a public sector company. My company is also profitable meaning it cannot be a voluntary sector company. Task 4: Flat Hierarchical: Flat organisations have very little levels of hierarchy. The lines of communications are short, making the firm responsive to change. A wide span of control means that mangers can fell overstretched. Normally small sized companies use this sort of structure. I think that the functional company structure represents Steven Eagell the most because of the way the company is structured. Steven Eagell is structured differently to most companies. Steven Eagell has one managing director and three directors which is normal for a company. But unlike other companies Steven Eagell has lots of general managers. The general managers at Steven Eagell manage from one to five dealerships. Each dealership will have a sales manager, parts manager, service manager, business centre manager and some will have a fleet manager. All of these managers will report to the general manger.
