P3 How can Legislation Acts affect Campsmount
Legal Issue:
There are many Legal issues businesses/organisations or companies have to abide by. Some of these are Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Computer Misuse Act 1990 and Copyright Law 1988. These acts prevent businesses from getting fined or any other serious situations.
Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act is in place to protect all of the students and teachers documents and important files. Everyone responsible for collecting and using data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. Campsmount uses this act because they allow companies such as Ofsted to gather information about student and the school but they don’t give them the student’s personal information such as their names and address. I, as a student could go get someone else’s work but I would need a valid reason to have possession of their work. This act affect Campsmount as a business because they have to look into the member of staff that they are taking on, due to they might have a criminal record which will allow Campsmount to look into it more. Whistleblowing happens within a school when a supply teacher takes a lesson if the original teacher isn’t there, with the work that the teacher has set before the lesson. Whistleblowing happens when the supply teacher is sat doing something else such as on an inappropriate website. Whistleblowing will occur if the student told another member of staff what they had been doing in that lesson. Edward Snowden is a prime example of a whistle-blower.
