Personal Statement I am thrilled to have found my passion for physical therapy and I appreciate the opportunity to be able apply for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Whatcom. In high school my first job was at a Physical Therapist office at 17 years of age. I worked as an aide, assisting patients through exercises and setting up patients on modalities. Being a student athlete, I realized the importance of physical therapy due to sport injuries and prevention of such injuries. After high school I continued my education and worked at local Therapist offices. This opportunity to work in this field helped me grow to realize that I have found passion in helping others live healthy lifestyles and living functional ADL’s. …show more content…

I feel confidently in these strengths multi-tasking in a busy clinical setting, learning quickly, and gaining patients trust in a vulnerable setting as that of therapy. I am also able to follow complex instructions from my Clinical Director and the Physical Therapists. I have relied on these strengths to be a great aide and to be one day a successful PTA. I will be able to take on a full patient load and be able to provide each patient with the best treatment needed for their cases. I enjoy being a reliable employee and I feel I am an asset to the medical professional staff. I find I’m good at multitasking but one of my weaknesses is taking on too much responsibility. It’s a weakness that requires self-awareness every day . I am always keeping up with all new research and data being published regarding new exercises, procedures, ICD-10 codes, and Medicare guidelines. I feel to be at the top of this field I need to keep advancing my education to give the outmost up to date treatments to each patient. This is why I continue to take classes to maintain my prior education while being a full time
