Picasso's angular forms, loosely drawn figures and vibrant colors are all characteristics of his unique art. Picasso’s art was new, and something people in his time were not ready for. Picasso’s war art especially, with its raw emotion and jarring images, conveys strong emotions about current global affairs. Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20st century. Picasso's sculptures are interesting in the regard that Picasso was never educated on the medium of sculpting. His work was for him, and he was just experimenting with the medium. Picasso replicated one of Velasquez's most famous paintings "Las Meninas", he wanted viewers to see how Velasquez's art would look in his personal style. The variations Picasso produced where to show an old style of art transforming into a new style of art. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) was essentially built for Picasso because it holds so much of his art. The MoMa is a place that New Yorkers and the abundance of tourists can view Picasso's art and appreciate its beauty and uniqueness. There are museums all over the world where people can view Picasso’s work; this shows how his impact is still felt today. Although Picasso's quality of art never changed, as people began to notice him, his status rose, and people were willing to pay more money for his art. The most expensive painting ever sold, was by Picasso, and sold for $106.5 million. He classified himself as one of the greats; he felt he was on the same level as Velasquez, Manet, and Goya. Picasso and his work are fascinating to many people. He inspires other artists to try new things, and be themselves. His impact is monumental, and he created so much work for the world to appreciate.
