At the 2014 FIFA Men's World Cup at Rio, the German national national team took away the grand prize $35 million for winning the tournament. However, when USA won the FIFA Women's World Cup, they only took home only a little amount of $2 million. FIFA gave out $576 million for the 2014 men's World Cup, which is almost 40 times more than the women's World Cup. There are complaints with women getting so little compared to men, but others believe that men deserve more prize money in the FIFA World Cup. Should women be paid the same prize money as men at the World Cups? This simply comes down to gender equality. As shown at the World Cup, men's prize money pool is 40 times more than the women's.
