Paper Towns
In the book Paper Towns by John Green the first part of the setting is taking place at Jefferson Park located in Orlando, Florida. Jefferson Park used to be a navy base but the navy didn’t need it anymore so they returned the land to citizens of Orlando, Florida, who decided to build a massive subdivision. Before Jefferson Park was a Pleasantville, and before it was a navy base, it belonged to an actual Jefferson, Dr. Jefferson Jefferson. Dr. Jefferson Jefferson wasn’t actually a doctor of any kind, he was just an orange juice salesman named Jefferson Jefferson. He’s just a regular boy preparing for his graduation. Quentin has secretly been in love with his neighbor Magro since they were kids. Unfortunately they grew apart throughout high school and separated into completely different social groups. Quentin is a nerd and hangs out with the band group. Margo Roth Spiegelman is not necessarily the “villain” of this novel, she is at the center of the conflict. Now Q realizes what he wants and what Margo Roth Spiegelman wants are totally different things, and now he has to leave her behind to go after what he truly want and he is hoping that it will be worth it.
One of the theme in Paper Towns is chasing after what you want in life and not being afraid to go after it. This theme is shown through many of the characters. Margo expresses this theme as she doesn’t care if she has to leave everything behind, she knows that she doesn’t want to be stuck in Orlando for the rest of her life because she hates it there. She knew she had to just leave everything all at once of she might not be able to do
