There are many inventions that are being made constantly from the past generations to even this moment in the modern world. These inventions cause questions to rise, some of them being on how much responsibility the inventor has for what they have created.This specific question was established with Mary Shelley and her book Frankenstein in 1817 where the first industrial revolution was taking place with advanced inventions that were barely starting. Shelley develops her story of an inventor who creates life within a creature, which soon causes several disasters for his creator. Parenthood guide was needed when the creature was first experiencing life. This is shown when the creature goes on his own and is in the cold forest, where he has to learn to survive on his own. The creature says, “‘One day, when I was oppressed by cold I found a fire….In my joy, I thrust my hand into the live embers, but quickly drew it out again with a cry of pain (Shelley 129).” With this quote shown, it comes to tell us that the creature had to learn his things on his own with no guiding. There was no one to tell the creature right from wrong, for he had to learn things by doing experiments. In this situation, the creature shows that he learned the wrong of touching fire by experiments. Another thing is that in the story the creature says, “I found that these people possessed a method of communicating their experience and feelings to one another by articulate sounds (Shelley 130).” According to this quotes, it provides an addition to how much of an oblivious in a sense baby this creature was. By not knowing what language is, it shows how much of Victor’s responsibility would’ve been if he did not leave his invention of the creature. If the creature has to learn from his own experiences, he is obviously not going to know everything about morals and basic knowledge of life. Victor made life not realizing that with life, one needs company. In the nature of species, there is always a company between the creatures in order for them to have survival skills and not feel lonely in this. This is what Victor forgot, for there was only one monster in town, where no one wants to contact with the creature at all. Loneliness is proven when the creature wants a companion desperately for he even threatens Victoir by saying, “...‘if I cannot inspire love….I will work at your destruction, nor finish until I desolate your heart, so that you shall curse the hour of your birth’ (Shelley 183).” By this reference, one can tell how much the action of Frankenstein leaving the creature influenced the monster in his loneliness desires. This is proven for the creature is willing to do wrongdoings to get his desire. By this being said, there is no question on how much this situation would have changed if Victor provided the creature with more affection and company.
