Parents Should Be Allowed In High School

Have you ever experienced or have been the parent that gets over involved while you have been watching a teen or child in a sports game, in this column I will be talking about how parents can try to live through their teens in sports and school. Who knows you may even learn some ways to identify yourself if you think you may be that parent.
I am a competitive hockey player so I have seen my fair share of parents getting over involved while watching their teen play. But being in my first year of high school I 'm also starting notice parents push their kids to do special and advanced programs they may not want to do. for example at bowman we have a international baccalaureate program (IB) and I have already noticed some of my peers complaining about how their parents forced them to join when they really didn 't want to. I know if I was forced to do an advanced program that I might not be ready for or just not interested in I don 't think I would benefit very much even if I did get a couple extra credits. If you think you might be doing this to your teen but your not sure here 's some input from another teen. if my parents were pressuring me to do something I didn 't want to do I would be giving lots of hints, like complaining about it everyday or every time it was brought up. Or I might be more subtle about it and leave mysterious notes on the toilet seat and computer. fighting is unacceptable. I think it 's important for parents to push their kids to go to school and get involved in sports because if we weren 't I don 't think lots of us would being very much at all. But you have to be able to draw the line and find a way to control yourself, maybe it means you have to step outside and calm down but that one If you think you might be pressuring your teen into doing an academically advanced program and your getting ' 'little hints, ' ' I would recommend talking
