Greek & Roman architecture are from the earliest and greatest corner stone of the western and global architecture. The Greek Parthenon and the Roman Pantheon are two remarkable symbols of the architecture of these two great civilizations. Each building of them has its own influence not only on many aspects of its own civilization but also on the global culture and architecture. There is several differences between the Parthenon and the Pantheon that identify and differentiate between the two buildings and their civilizations. The Parthenon was erected between 447 and 438 B.C on the Acropolis dedicated to goddess (Athena Parthenos) which means Athena the virgin; goddess of wisdom and war. The Pantheon is a circular building with a massive dome made of concrete with no arch support inside the dome and the front porch with Corinthian columns supporting the roof with the triangular pediment. The dome of the Pantheon was the largest unsupported dome with about 43 meter in diameter and 22 meter above its base (Britannica, n.d.).
