This essay will inform the reader on the similarities and differences between two cultures i.e. Ancient Rome and Greece in co-operated in two buildings known as the Parthenon and Pantheon. They both are ancient temples and were built to celebrate their Gods. While reading, one should be able to grasp the differences and similarities between the two cultures through the design, history and usage of the two buildings. The Parthenon Building “is a Doric peripteral temple, which means that it consists of a rectangular floor plan with a series of low steps on every side, and a colonnade (8x17) of Doris columns extending around the periphery of the entire structure. Each entrance has an additional six columns in front of it. The larger of the two rooms, the naos, housed the cult statue and the smaller room (the opisthodoms) was used as a treasury” (Silverman, D, n.d, Hum 110). The Parthenon is currently located in Athenian Acropolis, Greece and was built in the year 447-438 BCE by Iktinos Kalikrates.
