Malala’s passion was to fight for the right for women to go to school and get an education. Her dedication to helping her cause made me think of what I am passionate about. My passion is to spread awareness that by attending the circus, you are supporting the abuse of innocent animals to be used for entertainment. Physical punishment is the standard method for training the animals. Bleeding, bruising, and even broken bones are often the result of these brutal punishments. The animals are routinely whipped and beaten with long metal rods, shocked with electric prods, and struck with clubs to learn the tricks they aren’t physically and mentally made to do. Performing is not a natural behavior for animals, forcing them to complete these tricks is inhumane. If you would never treat your own animal companion like this, then why support the circus? Hundley was a former Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus employee who joined PETA in an effort to inform the public what really happened to the animals in the circus.
