Interviewee: My call to pastoring was birth out of a desire to see people saved, trained into disciples, and sent out to bring others into the kingdom. It was in 2014 that the burden/passion, and calling had become apparent upon my life. The Lord, through many confirmations, made it clear that it was my calling to plant a church and become a pastor. During this part of ministry, I am able to spend one on one time with the individual and their families. It is my responsibility to be there for the members of the church and to see that their spiritual needs are met through some of their toughest times. Also, this area of ministry has allowed me to grow in my social skills and to gain knowledge as it relates to the conditions of others. Interviewer: Which pastoral duty do you enjoy the least, and why? Interviewee: The pastoral duty that I least like is the task of eulogizing a member in the church. No matter how many times it is done, it never gets easier. It is hard pill to swallow and to comfort the family during their time of bereavement. If you keep “servanthood” as your focus, you will love the ministry and you will be effective. Interviewer: How would you describe a successful pastor? How would you describe a successful church? Interviewee: A successful pastor is one who devote himself first to God, his family, and then the ministry. It is in this order that a pastor can keep the right perspective and he/she can serve with purpose. A successful pastor is one who have clear vision and is able to articulate it to the congregation. A successful pastor is not a dictator, but a leader that sets an example by first showing himself as a sheep that has been given direction by God to lead other sheep. A successful pastor is one who will not lure over the people of God, but care for their souls pointing them to Christ.
