As a St. Thomas student, I have learned the value of ethical and sustainable practices. As a finance major, I have learned that being ethical in business decisions is of the utmost importance. I am glad that in the last four years, I have also heard about businesses becoming more sustainable. In this economy, sustainability is critical for a circular future. Sustainability is the practice of running a business in such a way that it has no negative impact on the environment, community, or society (Spiliakos, 2018). Patagonia's goods and services are focused on quality, integrity, environmental stewardship, and justice. That is why I wanted to delve deeper into their core values and put them to the test in terms of sustainability and ethics. The first test I wanted to look at was the article "How to Evaluate a Company" in The Green Star Project. I looked at how Patagonia ranked, and they received a score of 12/14 on the company's ethics, which is outstanding. They were the highest ranked company in the industry and the only one with a green rating for ethics.
