Pathos In Letter To Birmingham Jail

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a Civil Rights supporter and a large reason that African-Americans are seen as people today. He did some incredible things in his life, unfortunately, he never really got to see his dream unfold. For as when he was assassinated on April 4th, 1968; however, he did some great things one involved a letter and he used a few devices to get his points to flow into the reader. In Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's persuasive plea, "Letters to a Birmingham Jail" he uses Ethos and Pathos to encourage his audience to do what is morally right which in this instance would be to desegregate. Continually, he gave great appeal whence he brought up the Supreme Court's decision which in fact restated his thesis that the African Americans that are living in the USA should not be segregated and in fact should be accepted. Luther brought up another interesting point when he informed all that, "in Alabama all sorts of devious methods are used to prevent Negroes from becoming registered voters" (King). Whereas Luther is also highly researched on this matter as well now the credibility aspect he brought to the table is also known as egos. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or credibility of the persuader, thus Luther's credibility is quite high. Which someone would guess do to all the amazing things he did throughout his life, yet even if you had no clue who this amazing man was, most people would say that he was credible in this text alone solely from the way he uses ethos in his letter. Now there is no doubt in my mind one Luther's credibility especially after the way he used ethos in the text to drive his point
